Free Street Theater is now accepting applications for our summer internship program. We are seeking curious and committed individuals who are interested in working with youth and community-based participants to create original performance grounded in critical inquiry.
Free Street internships, including administrative and research positions, are hands-on and multidisciplinary.
Artistic Development : Interns will work under the supervision of our Artists-in-Residence to help develop original ensemble performance with high school students age 13-19. Interns assist with daily warm-ups, monitoring attendance, facilitating writing and performance exercises, and keeping track of performance material. In addition, interns are expected to participate in professional development workshops led by Free Street artists. Interns must be available 16-20 hours a week, M-F 10-2.
Community Connections Intern: Interns will work under the supervision of Free Street’s Administrative team to maintain communication with our community partners, and to help promote our neighborhood based performances. Interns assist with regular check-ins at community sites, developing individualized marketing materials for each performance, and tabling at community events. In addition, interns are expected to participate in professional development workshops led by Free Street artists. Interns must be available 16 hours a week, times are flexible.

In addition, applicants should demonstrate a familiarity with Free Street’s mission. Applications are due on a rolling basis, and will be followed up by interviews with supervising artists.
