Happy 40th Birthday Free Street Theater

Free Street Theater is a cultural arts laboratory which has been developing creativity as a force for social change since 1969. We constantly are seeking the new, both in terms of the art we create and the programs we design to bring arts experiences to people who have limited access to cultural inclusion.

We offer high-quality theater workshops at no cost to the youth artists that we serve. These workshops are made possible by individuals who believe that art should be inclusive and that creativity is free.

You can honor our 40th anniversary and help support our mission in the following ways:

If you donate $40 we can buy healthy snacks for the ensemble before rehearsal.
If 100 people donate $40 they can provide bus passes for the entire summer ensemble.
If 1,000 people donate $40 they can support workshops in Chicago Public Schools for the whole year in 10 classrooms.

"Dear Free Street,
Never underestimate the power of the work you are doing
- especially now in this time of war.
You astonish and fill me with hope."

-Sandra Cisneros, author of "The House On Mango Street"
