About the play: Our project aims to shed light on Fatherlessness. On the stories of fatherless daughters and the men who left them. Until we began working on this play, we each thought we were the only ones walking around with the baggage that comes with being a fatherless child/daughter/woman. Not until we sat down to collect other women’s stories, did we come to find that they, too, have struggled with many of the same feelings— sadness, anger, resentment, abandonment, rejection and perfectionism. There are many people who discuss this topic, touch on it, and write about it. However, we have never seen a story like this on stage before. And as women, but more specifically, as black and brown women, we want to be the creators and tellers of our own stories for the stage. This is our story.
