Call for Collaborators: 100 HAUNTINGS with Free Street Theater
Avery Gordon writes that ghosts “are haunting reminders of lingering trouble.” But why are they haunting us? What wrongs are they trying to right? What justice do they seek? These questions are the starting point for Free Street Theater’s latest project, a multi-media ensemble performance that collects and stages ghost stories from across the city. 100 HAUNTINGS will be directed by award-winning artists Bobby Biedrzycki and Coya Paz, and we are currently looking for collaborators of ALL ages to join the creative team that will develop this project over the next 12 months.
Previous experience with theater or writing is not necessary. We are looking for people who want to develop their skills as storytellers, writers, performers. Above all, we are seeking collaborators with diverse points of view, who are comfortable working in neighborhoods across the city and who are not (too) scared of ghosts. This is a long-term commitment with some modest pay, and lots of space to build, create and connect.
Auditions will be held October 8th from 6:00-8:30 at Free Street Theater (1419 W. Blackhawk). To reserve an audition spot, please email coyapaz (at) gmail (dot) com, and prepare a short (1-3 minute) ghost story. Callbacks will be held on the evening of October 14th.
